01 AIRPORT / KANDY
Arrive at Bandaranayake International Airport, met
by "Don Voyage" Representatives and to
transfer to Hotel in Colombo.

DAY 02: KANDY
Breakfast at Hotel. Leave for gadaladeniya.En route
visit the Botanical Garden Peradeniya.
BOTANICAL GARDEN
Which was a pleasure garden of a Kandyan King of
the 16th Century and later made in to a Botanical
Garden during the British regime. This gardens;
one of the best in Asia is a place of beauty and
site for bird watchers.

GADALADENIYA VIHARAYA
The temple of Gadaladeniya was built during the
Gampola period, which began in 1341. The temple
was built by the Ven. Seelavansa during the reign
of King Buwanekabahu IV (1341 - 1351). The temple
is constructed of stone other than for the octagonal
dome, which is of brick. This temple built on the
flat outcrop of rock depicts a great touch of South
Indian and Hindu influence. On the flat Rock on
which the Temple stands is also a large inscription.
The 18 foot long Buddha figure is sculptured on
granite and even the name of the South Indian sculptor
is mentioned.
On the stereobate at the Entrance are figures of
musicians and Dancers, and at the foot of the steps
at the entrance to the main shrine are a moonstone
and two Gajasingha (Mythical dragon like Animal)
balustrades.

LANKATILAKA VIHARAYA
The Lankatilaka Temple also built on an outcrop
of rock comes from the period of king Buwanekabahu
IV, and was built by one of his ministers named
Senaddhilankara with the assistance of the king.
There are two rock inscriptions made by two kings,
Buwanekabahu and Vicramabahu III. Apart from the
stereo bate most of the structure is of brick. On
either side of each entrance on the outer wall are
16 stone Elephant figures. In the image house are
many paintings of the Kandyan period. The presence
of statues of Hindu Gods in the Image House is evidence
of a strong Hindu influence in that period.

THE EMBAKKE DEVALE (SHRINE)
King Vicramabahu III built the Embakke Devale coming
from Kandyan period in the year 1360.
Initially a cadjan thatched shrine dedicated to
the God Skanda of Kataragama which was maintained
by an old Drummer who did so in thanks giving to
the God who granted him divine healing of a chronic
skin disease, was later developed by the king, Buwanekabahu
IV, making it a master piece of the veteran craftsmen
of the time.
Of all the wooden structures of Kandyan Period,
this is the most attractive. The exquisitely carved
pillars with Swans, Creepers, Flowers, Human Figures
and other filigree speak of the superior skills
of the craftsmen of the time.

DAY 03: KANDY / HUNNAS FALLS
Breakfast at Hotel and Leave for Kandy City Tour.

25 km from Kandy is a Village called Hunnas Giriya
where tea is grown. Hunnas Falls named after the
very village I the pride and fame earning factor
of this quaint tucked away settlement. By the Water
Falls is also a beautiful Hotel names Hunnas Falls
Hotel which is certainly a glorious retreat for
honeymooner of the one who want to getaway from
it all…
Next visit the Victoria Dam.
VICTORIA DAM
Built across the Mahaweli River that begin from
the famous Adams Peak, is one of the greatest projects
in Power generation of Sri Lanka. The Drive to the
view point is an enchanting one which takes you
through landscapes of scenic beauty.
Sight seeing of Kandy including Upper Lake Drive
and visit to Art and Craft Centers.
p.m. Visit art and craft centre and Gem Bureau where
you will be shown a documentary film on how Sri
Lankan Gem mining is traditionally done.

TEMPLE OF THE TOOTH RELIC
The Temple of the Sacred Tooth relic of the Buddha
Is the most important temple for the Sri Lankan
Buddhists and was built in the 16th Century A.D.
by king Wimaladharmasooriya, solely for the purpose
of housing the tooth relic.
Next enjoy a typical Sri Lankan Cultural Show of
Drumming, Dancing, music and fire walking.

DAY 04: KANDY / COLOMBO
Breakfast at hotel and leave for Colombo. En route
visit spice garden
SPICES GARDEN
Visit a spice garden at Mavanella, where spices
and herbs used for Sri Lankan cuisine and medication
are grown. Spices of Sri Lanka attracted the early
sea faring merchants who made the long voyages to
purchase this precious merchandise
Next visit Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala.
ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE
The foster – home of elephants of different
age and size feeding, bathing, playing together
and even mating. These have been found injured or
left abandoned in the wilderness. There are even
little baby calves born in captivity.

DAY 05: COLOMBO
